East West Players offers Actors Conservatory Program The East West Players Actor's Conservatory Program offers a comprehensive theatre arts curriculum for those who are honing their craft as professional actors as well as those seeking personal expression. Students have ranged in age from 17 to 65, are of diverse ethnic and economic backgrounds, and possess skill levels that stretch from beginning to advanced. What brings everyone together is a dedication to learning and sharing a unique theatrical experience. The minimum age of participation is 17 with the consent of a parent or guardian. Enrolling and completing studies with East West Players Actors Conservatory does not guarantee you will be cast in an EWP mainstage production. This introduction to Shakespeare class is a continuation of Shakespeare II. Throw away preconceived notions of Shakespeare you have from your English class and learn the poetry, prose, and characters the way they were intended to be explored? through the theatre. This class will help you find practical ways to approach heightened text with confidence and authenticity. This course is designed to focus on vocal technique that addresses each individual's vocal issues. Class will also include working with students on the practical application of that technique through exercises using a song they have brought in. Deborah's clients included Bette Midler, Annette Cardona (Grease) and Larry Rabin (Forever Plaid). This class is a continuation of Fundamentals II, students will continue to explore objectives, actions, conflicts and how to make acting choices. Both physical and vocal work will be explored to increase awareness of their instrument, Mistakes are highly encouraged and are in fact required for learning! *Students are encouraged to enroll in Fundamentals I, II & III. Those who complete the series will qualify to enroll in the Studio Lab Project workshop which will culminate in a performance at the end of the session. East West Players Actors Conservatory is excited to welcome back Aaron Takahashi who will be teaching On-Camera Commercial Audition Workshop beginning February. The workshop is a comprehensive look at the process of commercial acting, from signing in at the audition, to booking and shooting the job. Through on-camera work, Aaron will introduce you to the numerous types of commercial auditions. He will share his insights on the art of commercial acting, including breaking down audition sides, recognizing the tone of a spot, and finding beats and jokes. Whether you're just starting out in the commercial world, or have been auditioning regularly and not getting callbacks or bookings, Aaron will help you discover what you can do to set yourself apart from the crowd.
