Chicago’s IGNITION Festival Features New Asian American Work and Sandra Oh

ct-sandra-oh-joins-victory-gardens-ignition-fe-001 Sandra Oh Ignition Festival Victory GardensThe Chicago Tribune reports Victory Gardens Theater the casting for its 2015 Ignition Festival of New Plays — including the return of actress Sandra Oh in a work by Julia Cho.

Besides Cho’s play (Office Hour, about an adjunct writing professor contends with a student with violent writings), the Festival also features

  • Muthaland  written and performed by Minita Gandhi, directed by Heidi Stillman. A young Indian-American woman on a retreat to her homeland.
  • Queen by Madhuri Shekar, directed by Joanie Schultz. Featuring Anjali Bhimani, Amanda Drinkall, Derek Hasenstab, Adam Poss. A conflict on the verge of a scientific breakthrough.
