EAST WEST PLAYERS’ ONE NIGHT ONLY: A Tribute to Tim and Marilyn August 15, 2015

East West Players (EWP), the nation’s largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work and the longest-running professional theatre of color in the country, announces their signature “one night only” event fundraiser, which this year will be a tribute to Producing Artistic Director Tim Dang and Arts Education Director Marilyn Tokuda honoring the achievements in their last year at East West Players. On June 30, it was announced that Tim Dang would be stepping down as Artistic Director of EWP in June 2016 and Marilyn Tokuda would be retiring at the same time. Proceeds of One Night Only benefit the artistic and educational programs of East West Players.

“We are taking advantage of every opportunity this year to fundraise during this transitional year for EWP,” says Dang. “We’re celebrating, our 50th Anniversary, celebrating Marilyn’s retirement, my 20+ years at EWP, and welcoming the next chapter of EWP. This is a momentous occasion.”

Confirmed performers include The Mama Bares, an all-female group of four Miss Saigon alumni – Joan Almedilla, Ai Goeku, Deedee Magno Hall, and Jennifer Paz; and the Three Filipino Tenors – Antoine Reynaldo Diel, Randy Guiaya, and Lito Villareal reunite for the first time in five years. More performers to be announced. Nathan Wang is musical director and Snehal Desai is producer.
