Ma-Yi Writers Lab is also partnering with the University of Washington in Seattle on a three-year residency for playwrights.
CREATIVE FELLOWSHIPS INITIATIVE
The vision of the Creative Fellowship Initiative is to work with artists at the leading edge of creative research to support significant contributions to the development and presentation of new works of contemporary music, dance and theater; to align with the teaching/research mission of University to explore the nature of creative research, to expand audiences for new work, and deepen alliances with community-based arts organizations.
Creative Fellowship residencies may take different forms that facilitate creative research and education: 1) closed incubation that is, primarily, for the Fellow; 2) open incubation in full view of students; 3) creative work involving students, either as part of the Fellow’s work or as pedagogy; 4) teaching residencies, or 5) commissions and public premieres. Some fellows may collaborate with faculty artists; some could engage discipline-specific artists from outside the University.
