HONOLULU, HI—Kumu Kahua Theatre is coming to the rescue of their neighbor, The ARTS at Marks Garage by offering a mini-fundraiser evening of murder, mystery, food, drinks and theatre.

Guests will gather at The ARTS at Marks Garage at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 8th for drinks and pupus provided by Bethel Union.  From 6:30-7:30, there will be an interactive murder mystery game.

At 7:30 PM guests will be escorted to Kumu Kahua Theatre where they will have reserved seats for the production of Who Killed Gilbert Botello? by Garrick Paikai.

Earlier this month, The ARTS at Marks Garage engaged Consulting Director, Donna Blanchard, who announced that the organization is experiencing financial crisis.  Ms. Blanchard is also the Managing Director of Kumu Kahua Theatre and coordinator of this event.

“I used to perform in murder mysteries in Chicago” said Blanchard.  “They’re always so much fun for everyone and seemed like to perfect treat to offer people who would like to help support The ARTS at Marks Garage.” She continues “let me be perfectly clear, the situation is dire.  If you enjoy The ARTS at Marks garage and are happy it’s here, now is the time to find a way to help support it.”

Pupus will be provided by Bethel Union and each guest will receive one complimentary drink.  The murder mystery game will involve teams working together to solve puzzles to and assemble clues to unravel a mystery.

Who Killed Gilbert Botello? by Garrick Paikai, is set in the 1990’s during a hurricane in the fictitious mansion of Rabbit Island. Gilbert Botello is dead.  But who killed him? Was it the butler or the maid? Was it the eccentric tycoon or his son? Detective Roy Rodger Kalauakekahuna III and his sidekick Officer Billy Souza investigate the murder and astonishing events surrounding the untimely demise of Gilbert Botello in this comedic murder mystery.

Who Killed Gilbert Botello? will run through September 24th, but this is the only night the production will be combined with The ARTS at Marks Garage.

Tickets for the event can be purchased with a credit card by calling 536-4441, or by visiting the box office at 46 Merchant Street (corner of Bethel and Merchant Streets, downtown) between 11am and 3pm Monday through Friday. Tickets can also be purchased at KumuKahua.org.

The ticket price for this event is $40.  $30 of each ticket sold will go to The ARTS at Marks Garage.
