Located 36 miles east of Atlanta on Emory’s original campus in Oxford, Georgia, Oxford College invites applications for a scholar-artist to fill a tenure-track position of assistant professor of Theater Studies and Director of the Theater Program to begin August 2018. Teaching responsibilities are two courses per semester. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop courses in his/her areas of expertise that contribute to Oxford College’s liberal arts curriculum and that support the Theater Studies major/minor. The position also includes responsibility for the theater program: Directing two plays per year, supporting student-directed productions, supervising technical staff, and liaising with campus and community partners.
Qualifications: A PhD in Theater Studies (or related field) or an MFA in Theater Arts completed by time of appointment, significant experience in teaching and directing at the undergraduate level, a commitment to teaching excellence, the ability to develop and maintain a vibrant theater program, and an active scholarly and/or creative research agenda. Preference may be given to candidates with the ability to teach stagecraft and/or theater history.
