Seeking Non-Union Actor for Tenali

Northwest Children’s Theater (Portland, Oregon) seeks an experienced, non-union East Indian/South Asian Actor to play the title and lead role in Tenali: The Royal Trickster. The role requires strong comedic acting and clowning/physical comedy skills.

Directed by Anita Menon and Sarah Jane Hardy, this original production by Avantika Shankar follows the success of “The Jungle Book” and “Chitra: The Girl Prince.”

STORYLINE:
Tenali Rama was an ingenious court poet who lived during the reign of King Krishnadevaraya in South India during the 16th century. This production will reimagine Tenali’s world filled with wit and humor by fusing Classical Indian Dance, music and folktales.

DATES:
Rehearsals: March 10, 2019 – April 19, 2019
Rehearsals take place Monday – Thursday, 4:30 – 8:00 PM, and Sundays from 12:00 – 8:00 at Northwest Children’s Theater in Portland, Oregon. In the last weekend of rehearsal, there will be full day Saturday and Sunday rehearsals.
Performances: April 20 – May 12, 2019; possible extension through May 19. Includes several daytime school matinee performances.
