LONDON: The 2019 Windham-Campbell Prize for writers has been announced. In the drama category, Young Jean Lee was one of the playwrights recognized (Australian playwright Patricia Cornelius was the other play recipient). Each writer will received $165,000.
The prize recognizes English-language writers around the world and are nominated and judged anonymously. It is administered by the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Yale University. The prize is named after Donald Windham, whose gift to Yale University led to the prize’s creation in 2013, and after Windham’s partner of 40 years, Sandy Campbell.
