Aureen Almario Named a Yerba Buena 100

Aureen Almario is Artistic Director for Bindlestiff Studio

Aureen AlmarioBindlestiff’s Artistic Director, Aureen Almario, is one of the YBCA 100! Yerba Buena  Center for the Arts compiles “An annual list that celebrates the everyday heroes—artists, activists, and community leaders—for their extraordinary commitment to building sustainable, equitable, and regenerative communities.” We’re incredibly proud of Aureen for being among this year’s honorees.

Along with being our artistic director, Aureen is an educator and artist. She is a part-time Asian American Studies professor at SFSU and Laney College, as well as a freelance teaching artist for K-12 schools. She co-founded the Granny Cart Gangstas, an all-Asian American women sketch troupe, and leads our Restorative Theater Arts for Seniors program. On top of all that, she has spent her time during the COVID-19 pandemic coordinating volunteers for food deliveries.
