In a Facebook post, the Contemporary Asian Theatre Scene, based out of the Bay Area, announced that co-founder Steve Yamaguma, has passed away.
“The entire CATS Family is saddened by the recent passing of its co-founder, Steve Yamaguma. Steve deeply cared about raising the voice of Asian American artists and the arts community. He used his creative vision, masterful event management, and professional graphic design to co-chair the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific Film Festival.
In addition to CATS, Steve’s leadership spans across numerous pivotal Japanese American and Asian American culture and arts groups for collective impact and influential improvements for the Asian American and Pacific American (AAPI) community.
Rest in Peace dear Steve. We will miss you and your discerning touch.”
