Set in a dystopic diaspora, we follow the story of Mary as she navigates anauthority-controlled corporate kingdom with inner-dimensional entities- Art, Artist, and Heart

as they search for the source of liberation. With live music from Bay Area’s own Chris “Burd” Quines – Guitar & Bass, Carlie Mari – Bass & Sound Design, and Blair Switch – Drums, captivating visual elements by shadow puppeteer Aureen Almario and projection artists Joan Osato, and led by Michelle Talgarow, this endeavor pushes the boundaries of the stage to immerse the audience in a world filled with revelry. Be a part of this Filipina|x|o Futurism Punk Rock Sci-Fi multiverse when DARKHEART lands at Bindlestiff Studio, May 2024.

About Golda Sargento (Writer – Script & Song)

Rebel Maria Golda Supernova Sargento is a multi-hyphenated artist, active in the Bay Area since moving from Alaskain the late-90s. Performing original songs solo, or with post-punks – The Soft Stars – Golda’s latest work as playwright and composer of DarkHeart: A Concert Narrative was recently excerpted in the literary magazine, Liwanag Vol. 3. The full-length world-premiere of DARKHEART is scheduled for May 2024 at Bindlestiff Studio, sponsored in part by the Gerbode Foundation 2023 Music Award.

 

About Michelle Talgarow (Director)

Michelle has been a company member of Shotgun Players since 2015. She is a Bay Area theatre-maker for over 20years, specializing in the collaborative process in devising new work. Michelle is also a proud company member of Mugwumpin, a theatre performance collective. She also has strong roots at the EXIT Theatre in SF where two of her murals can be seen. Michelle has been fortunate to also have worked with many other local companies: The Ground Floor at Berkeley Rep, Central Works, Impact Theatre, Ferocious Lotus, Cutting Ball Theatre, Magic Theatre, and Bindlestiff Studio. She recently directed Shotgun Player’s production of Man of God.

 

About Bindlestiff Studio

Originally opened in 1989, Bindlestiff Studio – a 501(c)3 non-profit arts organization – became the only community-based performing arts venue in the nation dedicated to showcasing emerging Filipino American and Filipino artists in 2001. Bindlestiff Studio provides the often under-served Filipino American community access to diverse offerings in theatrical productions, music and film festivals, workshops in directing, production, acting, stand-up comedy, andwriting, as well as arts education programs for youth and seniors.
