Kayla Kim Votapek Moves to New Position
The Consortium of Asian American Theaters and Artists (CAATA) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Kayla Kim Votapek 김난주 as CAATA’s new Executive Director. A multidisciplinary artist, cultural organizer, and transformative leader, Kayla steps into this role at a powerful time in CAATA’s journey as we prepare to celebrate the 20th anniversary in 2026.
Having previously served as CAATA’s General Manager, Kayla transitions into this expanded role with a deep understanding of the organization’s mission and community.
A Korean-American adoptee, storyteller, and advocate for justice in the arts, Kayla brings a deeply embodied understanding of what it means to live, create, and lead in the in-between. Her work at the intersections of identity, artistry, and community healing has shaped national conversations on equity, belonging, and the expansive potential of theater as a liberatory practice.
