vActory 2026 Open Call
Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre areisproud to announce the open call for vActory, a mini-performance series designed to catalyze innovative creation and foster artistic exchange. Encouraging participants to celebrate the spirit of artistic wanderlust within the format, the vActory series is a new works incubator for Asian artists to explore performance modalities and experiment with techniques, culminating in a public presentation of three short new works.
What vActory offers:
- $2500 presentation fee for a 15-20 minute original performance (to be allocated based on your project’s needs).
- Dramaturgical and Process support from vAct’s Managing Artistic Director and Artistic Producer
- Production support from vActory’s Production Coordinator and Designer.
- Creative and Tech Residency time through What Lab.
- Access to technical equipment through vAct and What Lab.
- Marketing and Publicity support through vAct.
- Opportunities for community engagement and feedback.
Project Timeline:
- Open Call: June 22nd 2026
- Applications Close: July 6th 2026
- Selected Participants Contacted: July 20th 2026
- Creation Period: July – October 2026 (self directed creation process)
- What Lab Creation Days: September 9th & 10th 2026
- What Lab Residency and Performance Dates: October 5th-10th, with performances on October 9th & 10th 2026
