Asian Canadian Theatre Artists Shine in Vancouver BC’s Jessie Awards

Jessies logoAsian Canadian artists get recognized by the theatre community in Vancouver BC, in the 2019 nominations for the Jesse Richardson Awards

The Ones We Leave Behind by Loretta Seto, garnered two Jessies for Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre, one for Alannah Ong (Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting role – Small Theatre) and the other for Dorothy Dittrich (Outstanding Sound Design or Original Composition – Small Theatre).

Jimmy Yi was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Lead Role – Large Theatre, in Pacific Theatre’s Kim’s Convenience, which also garnered a nomination for Outstanding Production, Large Theatre.

Another shout out to Sophie Tang who was  nominated for Outstanding Lighting Design – Large Theatre, for the Arts Club’s The Orchard.

Chris Lam received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Lead Performance for A Prayer for Owen Meany for Ensemble Theatre Company.

Khan Lee received a nomination for Outstanding Set Design, Small Theatre, for Camera Obscura (hungry ghosts) for the frank theatre company.
