VACT Announces Bad Parent Ins Choi Play
Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre (VACT) are so pleased to announce our next Mainstage Production will be Bad Parent, a new comedy by Ins Choi (writer/creator of Kim’s Convenience).
Bad Parent is a co-production with Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE) with its premiere run slated for October 7-25, 2020 in Winnipeg. This will be followed by the West Coast premiere at The Cultch in Fall 2020.
We make this announcement amid an uncertain timeline with the COVID-19 pandemic and no guarantees that theatres will be able to open in the fall. As the situation develops, we will react accordingly. But as of right now, we want to share with you our excitement and anticipation in bringing a brand new Asian Canadian work to the stage. One way or another, we will be bringing this show to you in the future!
About the show:
From the creator of Kim’s Convenience, comes a comedy about a couple dealing with their baby, each other, and an audience.
Norah and Charles are struggling with their marriage. They have a baby and their problems get worse. They individually confide in the audience regarding their personal struggles and find it refreshing and even therapeutic. They hire a nanny and she’s perfect, maybe a little too perfect according to Norah. This is a comedy about a couple struggling with their marriage, parenthood and what they’ve told the audience.
