The Brown/ Trinity Rep M.F.A. Programs in Acting and Directing seeks applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of the Practice position as Head of Voice and Speech. We seek applicants eager to work with current faculty to envision and advance conservatory training rooted in principles of equity and anti-racism. The successful applicant will place a focus on preparing our artists and makers for dynamic careers across different modes of theater and performance.
The Head of Voice and Speech will teach in and supervise all areas of the MFA Acting and Directing Programs that are connected to vocal work, and interact with all MFA actors and directors during their training. They will design and implement curriculum for a three-year progression of voice, speech, and dialects, teaching graduate students and occasionally undergraduates. The Head of Voice and Speech collaborates with the faculty to mentor student productions, facilitates inter-departmental reviews of curriculum and supports faculty development towards best practices in equity and anti-racism, selects and advises student Voice and Speech mentors, addresses opportunities for team-teaching and long-term departmental planning, and supports the program through faculty meeting and committee work, our graduate Showcase, and Recitals.
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have at least 5 years of experience teaching at the conservatory and/ or university level. A BA is required, MFA preferred. Letters of recommendation will be solicited later in the search process. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled, but best consideration will be given to materials submitted by April 1, 2022. This position is scheduled to start July 2022.
