CALL FOR ASIAN ARTS INITIATIVE ALUMNI SUBMISSIONS!
We are welcoming art from all present and past staff, board, interns, volunteers, youth participants, artists and friends of the Asian Arts Initiative to submit 1 piece to this exhibition!
We would love everyone to be represented in this show. Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, we will be accepting such items as drawings from your sketchbook when you were a participant, doodles from a meeting, your first painting, written poetry, or any piece of artwork that you’ve created that you feel is representative of yourself, of the work that you do, or of your relationship to the Asian Arts Initiative.
This show will be one of our final exhibitions at 1315 Cherry Street, we want to bring together and honor the everyday artists who make the Asian Arts Initiative possible through showing and sharing our creative work.
Works accepted: 2-dimensional artwork, must be matted or framed, no minimum size requirement, maximum 16” x 24”.
To submit, please mail or drop off the following no later than October 6, 2006.
1) Your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address.
2) An artist statement, up to one page, that describes what motivates your work, and /or a brief statement explaining your connection to the Asian Arts Initiative.
3) Your artwork labeled with title, medium, and dimensions
4) A SASE with necessary postage for return of materials.
5) Estimated Value of work
6) If you would like to donate this artwork to the Asian Arts Initiative for sale during our Gilbert Arts Project Festival in October, or if you would like it to be for sale, sold with a 20% commission.

Selected works must be ready for hanging. Exhibited photo works should be framed OR matted with a matching sheet of Plexiglas, cut to size. Artists must arrange for their own delivery or shipping of work for the exhibition.

The Asian Arts Initiative is grounded in the belief that the arts can provide an important political and cultural voice for the Asian American community in Philadelphia. We serve as a community arts center where artists and everyday people are developing means to express our diverse experiences as Asian Americans.
