ASIAN AMERICAN THEATER COMPANY PRESENTS A SPECIAL ENGAGEMENT WITH STORYTELLER CHARLIE CHIN

San Francisco's Asian American Theater Company presents storyteller, musician and writer Charlie Chin's solo performance of The Craft of The Chinese Storyteller: Traditional Tales of Ancient China. A featured presenter at the California Gold Showcase of the 1998 Bay Area Chinese Storytelling Festival, veteran storyteller and monologist Charlie Chin will perform a Chinese folktale cycle for adults in the classic "Teahouse style at La Pena on Wednesday October 28, 1998 at 8 PM.

Wearing the scholar's robe and using the traditional props of a fan, gavel, handkerchief, and tea cup, Charlie brings to life the wondrous stories that entertained emperors and amazed village farmers of China for the last 3,000 years.

A student of the famed storytelling master Leong Chi Ming, Charlie has been collecting Chinese and Chinese American oral histories and folktales for over 25 years. He has presented Storytelling programs in museums, universities and festivals across the United States, is the author of two children's books, and founder of the Jataka Puppet Theater.
