AATC Open Audition and training

Asian American Theater Company announces Open Auditions for upcoming season. Open Auditions for upcoming readings and productions will be held on Saturday December 2nd 10-5pm, at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California, Conference Rooms 1 & 2. Please bring two 2 minute monologues (1 dramatic, 1 comedic). You will not necessarily be asked to read both. Call in to register for a space at 415-440-5545.

To continue fostering new talent in Asian Pacific Islander American theater, Asian American Theater Company, is offering the following classes for it's Fall 2000 series.

AUDITION WORKSHOP
With Sean San JosÈ
Learn from a working professional and gifted instructor, the secrets of carrying out a successful audition for theaters, general auditions, callbacks and cold readings. Students are asked to bring two 2-minute monologues and are helped to find new pieces to add to their repertoire. This class can be taken in preparation for AATC's Open Auditions on December 2, 2000.

Sean San JosÈ conceived the theater project Pieces of the Quilt. His dedication to new plays and new writers led to the creation of Campo Santo, the resident theater company of Intersection for the Arts. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his performances, including the Bay Area Critics' Circle Award , the DramaLogue Award and is Wattis Artist in Residence 2000-2001 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He is currently appearing with Campo Santo in Jose Rivera's References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot.

Asian American Theater Company was founded in 1973 as a playwrights' workshop sponsored by the American Conservatory Theater. The company is dedicated to the production of new American plays by dramatists of Asian Pacific Islander descent. Throughout its history, AATC has served as a home for numerous Asian Pacific Islander American playwrights, directors, actors and designers, including Frank Chin, Dennis Dun, Philip Kan Gotanda, David Henry Hwang, Amy Hill, and Judi Nihei. After more than a quarter of a century of pioneering Asian American theater arts, AATC is poised to chart new directions for Asian Pacific Islander American theater arts into the new millennium.
