San Francisco's AATC announces 2009 Season
The Asian American Theatre Company's new Co-Artistic Directors, Duy Nguyen and Alan Quismorio, will be presenting a great 2009 Season, filled with new works and exciting premieres.
Your donations will directly support these programs:
* NewWorks Incubator Staged Readings in the spring, including:
* "Beijing, California" by Paul Heller, exploring a futuristic world in which the U.S. has become a third world nation occupied by China; and
* "Blood Is Thick" by Duy Nguyen, a total theater experience that surrounds the audience with four stages as they follow the devious schemes of a drug addict who invents the biggest lie of his life in a desperate search for normality.
* "Fayette-Nam" by Aurorae Khoo (a mainstage world premiere in June), taking us to the fateful night when a young African American soldier goes AWOL before being shipped to Iraq--and hides out with the Asian American mother and daughter with whom he is in a love triangle; and
* "#5 The Angry Red Drum" by Philip Kan Gotanda (a San Francisco mainstage premiere in the fall), plunging us into an apocalyptic world occupied by lost souls--including two strangers who meet, are inexplicably drawn to each other, and are confronted by a host of surreal characters, causing the strangers to remember their true identities...and act.
