LOS ANGELES, CA ? Artists at Play presents the Los Angeles premiere of Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them, a gay-themed drama about a chosen family made up of three kids making up their own rules, written by A. Rey Pamatmat and directed by Jennifer Chang.

First produced as part of the 2011 Humana Festival of New American Plays, Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them is about 12-year-old Edith and her older brother Kenny, two Filipino American kids living on their own. When Kenny and his classmate Benji begin to explore a relationship beyond friendship, Edith realizes she will have to stand guard to protect her newfound family. Opening on October 20 and running through November 10, 2012 at GTC Burbank, this show is the sophomore outing for theatre-producing collective Artists at Play.

"Dear Kenny," starts a heartfelt note written by the character Benji, "You make me feel really good. I¹m happy when we¹re together. It¹s hard to concentrate on Pre-Calc homework, because you¹re in that class with me, and college and differential equations just can¹t compete. I hope you feel the same way. I have a feeling you do."

On Thursday, October 11, 2012 (National Coming Out Day), $12 tickets will be available for purchase as part of the ³10-11-12² special. The friendship and eventual love shared between the two male characters is an integral part of Pamatmat¹s play, and Artists at Play hopes to share this work with likeminded individuals, LGBTQ groups and allies.

The cast includes Amielynn Abellera (Dusty de los Santos, Wind Chimes) in the title role, Rodney To (Wilfred, Modern Family) and Brian Hostenske (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Pride and Prejudice). Understudies include Joy Regullano, Jaime Barcelon, and Rudy Martinez.

The creative team consists of Set Designer Art Betanzos, Costume Designer Rachel Stivers, Lighting Designer Jennifer Hill, Sound Designer Dennis Yen, Property Master Naomi Kasahara, Safety Coordinator Thomas Morinaka, Dramaturg Skyler Gray and Stage Manager Amelia Worfolk.

Artists at Play, founded last year by Peter J. Kuo, Julia Cho, Stefanie Wong Lau and Marie-Reine Velez, aims to curate new narratives for the stage that challenge, engage and broaden the theatrical experience. After the success of their inaugural production, the Los Angeles premiere of Lauren Yee¹s Ching Chong Chinaman, this new group continues to build their body of work while carving out a role in the local theatre scene.
