A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM OUR CHAIRPERSON....
January 1, 2010 Dear Bindlestiff Family, Supporters, and Community Partners, Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year! We hope that this message finds everyone in good spirits. Bindlestiff Studio has big news to share. After three years of service as Executive Director, we bid farewell to Mr. Alex Torres. Since joining Bindlestiff Studio in 1998 as an artist with Teatro Ng Tanan, Alex has made major contributions to the organization. Most recently, his artistic guidance was seen by the hundreds who attended our production of “Shadows of War: The Lopez Family in the Philippines 1901” at the Presidio Trust’ exhibit “War and Dissent”. His passion and work as Executive Director has brought our organization closer to the dream of re-opening Bindlestiff Studio as a brand new 99-seat theater space at our original location on Sixth street in the heart of San Francisco’s South of Market Area. Though his presence will be missed, rest assured the organization continues to strive forward, without interruption. Driven by the invaluable work of our volunteers, our Board of Directors, Production Team, our Artistic Director, Allan S. Manalo, and with the help of our Facilities Manager, Tony Kelly of Thick Description, Bindlestiff Studio is geared to re-open our doors in the Fall of 2010! We wish to thank Mr. Alex Torres for working tirelessly with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency and bringing our organization this far. He joins a community of past leaders whose work is responsible for making Bindlestiff Studio the special organization that it is.
