Bindlestiff Studio and the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency are proud to announce our long-awaited groundbreaking of Bindlestiff Studio's new 99-seat theater, taking place next week at the theater's original location. After years of intense negotiation and planning, Bindlestiff Studio will soon open its doors once again at 185 Sixth Street in the South of Market Area, becoming the first theater venue in the nation dedicated to the cultivation and development of Filipino Americans in the performing arts. Now in its 21st year, Bindlestiff Studio is poised to go primetime with its first full theatrical production at our new space in July of 2011, and will continue to foster a new generation of experienced and novice multidisciplinary artists.

This exciting news comes with an urgency to raise a capital campaign goal of $100,000 that will establish Bindlestiff Studio as a state of the art, professional theatre. Thus far, we have managed to raise a total of $16,000 towards our new seating system thanks to the San Francisco Arts Commission's Creative Spaces Grant. However, we need your help.
Please help us reach our goal by joining us in celebrating the start of a new era in Bindlestiff Studio's history by attending our GROUNDBREAKING CELEBRATION & FUNDRAISER hosted by MERCURY LOUNGE on THURS. FEBRUARY 17th from 6pm-9pm.

There will be great food prepared by Filipino chef, Dominic Ainza along with tasty drinks, entertainment by Bindlestiff artists, and an introduction of our Adopt-A-Theater campaign, a simple program which makes it easy for you to help reach our goals. Please join us by purchasing advance tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/155549. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All donations are tax-deductable and proceeds go towards Bindlestiff Studio's Adopt-A-Theater campaign.

Bindlestiff Studio must raise $100,000 to cover the complete costs essential to the opening of the theater including seating, lighting and sound equipment, media and office equipment, and to complete the interior Design. THE ADOPT –A –THEATER CAPITAL CAMPAIGN is a unique opportunity to help develop a little black box theater grow into a new and modern, professionally run theater space. We need your help in dollars and vocal community support!!!
