Bindlestiff Studio Extends Grant Agreement with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency to Build New Pilipino American Theate

Bindlestiff Studio, the epicenter for Pilipino American performing arts, today announced it successfully extended the terms of their three-year grant agreement with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency (SFRA) to May 31, 2007. The extension will enable Bindlestiff to launch a visibility campaign and reinvigorate fundraising activities to begin construction on the newly built theater shell located at the basement of the 115-unit Plaza Apartments on 185 Sixth Street.

It is a critical time in Pilipino American arts and culture. We have the opportunity to create a valuable community resource, a 99-seat black box theater devoted to the exploration of Pilipino American arts. Here are some ways to help:

Donate to the Capital Campaign! No amount is too small, and your gift will directly go towards the construction of the new theater. Bindlestiff is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and your donation is 100% tax-deductible.

Volunteer your time and talents! The following positions are open NOW! Positions are flexible and training will be provided.

FUNDRAISING

  1. Phone banking volunteer (3-5 hours/week)
  2. Fundraising events committee (2 hour bi-weekly meetings)
  3. Donor database entry & Donor appreciation volunteer (3-5 hours/week)
  4. Grant writing and foundation outreach volunteer (3-5 hours/week, flexible)

VISIBILITY & OUTREACH

  1. Website volunteer ˆ develop new format and content (3-5 hours/week)
  2. Press Release & Email Volunteer (2-3 hours/week)
  3. Create promotional materials (DVD, flyers, etc) (3-5 hours/week)
  4. Outreach volunteer to organizations, colleges & businesses (3-5 hours/week, flexible)
  5. Online outreach and visibility volunteer (MySpace, YouTube, Friendster, DowneLink) (3-5 hours/week, flexible)
  6. Neighborhood outreach volunteer (posting flyers, distributing palm cards, club outreach) (1-5 hours, flexible)

FINANCE & ADMINISTRATION

  1. QuickBooks data entry volunteer (1-3 hours/week)
  2. Volunteer database volunteer (1-3 hours/week)
  3. Clerical volunteer (filing, archiving) (1-3 hours/week)
  4. Finance volunteer (help streamline fiscal systems. Accounting experience preferred.) (3 hours/week)
  5. General Admin Volunteers ˆ Help out one night a week from 7-9PM. Refreshments will be provided.
