PANSINEMA FILM FESTIVAL - CALL FOR ENTRIES

Bindlestiff Studio is now accepting submissions for its
Filipino-American/Pan-Asian short-form film festival, to be held at Bindle Alley on the weekend of January 19th – 21st, 2006. Formerly known as the “Kita Mo Film Festival,” the 1st annual “PanSinema Film Festival” looks to expand on Bindlestiff’s commitment to presenting independent films produced by Pilipino, Filipino-American, and other Pan-Asian filmmakers.

For the first time this year, Bindlestiff Studio will be accepting submissions in 5 different categories: Narrative, Documentary, Experimental, Youth, and Music/Animation. Special recognition awards will be given to films in each of these separate categories.

Submission Guidelines are as follows:

1) Eligibility: For all categories, films and videos made by or about Filipino-Americans or Pan-Asian diaspora of any nationality will be considered. Films should be no longer than 45 minutes in length, though exceptions may be made (please contact Film Festival coordinators in advance). For films being submitted in the “youth” category, the project must either be produced by youth (under 21 years of age) or be about youth.

2) Categorical Submissions: Filmmakers are asked to self-select the categories under which they wish to enter their film. Films may be submitted in multiple categories, but will not be considered for entry into more than two. Please prioritize categorical submissions.

3) Submission Formats: Preferred formats are DVD, Mini-DV, and VHS. Please contact Film Festival Coordinators if you plan to submit in a different format (i.e., 16 mm, Beta-Cam, etc.). Unless otherwise requested, submissions, if selected, will be kept for presentation at the actual film festival.

4) Submission Materials: Please try to include the following along with your film submission.

  • Contact Information Sheet
(w/address, phone, and email of main contact)
  • Synopsis of Film & Description of Project (i.e., Director/Producer’s statement)
  • Director (and/or Producer) biography and filmography
  • Any additional promotional material
  • Self-addressed, stamped envelope (for return of film) *

* this is not necessary if you are ok with having your film archived at Bindlestiff; please indicate to us if you wish to choose this option.

5) Deadline: To accommodate the selection process, we ask that all film entries be submitted by Monday, Dec. 12th. Unless otherwise arranged with Film Festival Coordinators, films not received by Dec. 12th will not be considered for selection.

Filmmakers whose submissions are selected to be a part of the Film Festival will be notified by the end of December.
