Thanks from CAATA!

If you're Facebook friends with EWP, you've already gotten this message, but we wanted to make sure to email it to you to thank you for your support through this campaign. (Thank you to Pan Asian Rep for already posting this as a FB note!).

---------------------------------------------------------------

We cannot thank you enough for your support of the National Asian American Theater Conference & Festival through the Pepsi Campaign.  We at campaign headquarters saw a lot of great things come out of this process and wanted to share with you the victories we achieved. So, we’ve compiled a LIST THINGS WE LEARNED during the September Pepsi Campaign.

TOP TEN LIST OF TOTALLY AWESOME THINGS WE LEARNED ABOUT THE ASIAN AMERICAN ARTS COMMUNITY
(in random order)

1. We learned we can get from #316 to a REMARKABLE #38 in a highly competitive contest. By doing this, we increased awareness of the 2011 National Conference/Festival!  More people than ever now know about the goals, significance, and date of the Conference/Festival!  Check out the brand new website at: www.caata.net <http://www.caata.net/>  with all this info.

2. We're now prepared for the next stage of the Conference/Festival (Yes, the Conference/Festival will go on!).  With the website up, we launched October by launching applications and guidelines.  If you’re interested in participating, get all the details at www.caata.net <http://www.caata.net/> .

3. We learned we have some great friends who blogged about the event and spread the word at: www.Disgrasian.com <http://www.disgrasian.com/> , www.ReAppropriate.com <http://www.reappropriate.com/> , www.AngryAsianMan.com <http://www.angryasianman.com/>  (via guest blogger and artist, Kristina Sheryl Wong), www.aarisings.com <http://www.aarisings.com/>  (via artist and activist Ken Choy) and www.Racebending.com <http://www.racebending.com/> !

4. We learned artists and actors such as Dante Basco (voice of Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Take the Lead, Hook) were excited to support the cause and inspire others by issuing their own challenges for our campaign.  See Dante’s Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tThpZUHoGU

5. We saw new artists in the community and shared just some of the future innovation for which this conference/festival is building support.  See the very talented and youthful beatboxers of Fresh Beats Inc’s Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37iNERDMfsw

6. We reconnected with over 50 arts leaders and countless voters across the world (yes, world!) who showed us they were engaged and became the heart of this campaign.

7. Roger Tang – creator of the AA-Drama List and Asian American Theatre Revue (www.aatrevue.com <http://www.aatrevue.com/> ) – is the coolest.  (We already knew this but thought we’d say it again.)

8. Taikoproject – the innovative ensemble of premier taiko drummers who graciously provided the music to one of our campaign videos – is also the coolest.  Check out their music in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzCdbmISKZM and learn more about this international award-winning group here: http://taikoproject.com/.

9. We learned the community is active and engaged!  By putting in the effort to vote, spread the word, and just otherwise think and talk about the event, our energy is up.  We're ready to keep the momentum alive as we continue toward the Conference/Festival in 2011!

10. And, this has nothing to do with the Pepsi Campaign…but as we launched this online contest, the Consortium of Asian American Theaters & Artists (CAATA) officially became a nonprofit 501c3 organization.  The Asian American theatre community is moving toward great things!

Thank you again.  We are all proud of the showing we had as a community—we showed Pepsi and the whole nation what we can do and what we can continue to do!  In short, we rock and we’ll keep rocking.  Onward and forward!

See you in Los Angeles next June 2011!
