CIRCA launches Drama Incubator Project

The Center for Immigrant Resources and Community Arts (CIRCA) explores new heights of storytelling through a drama laboratory program that incubates skills in acting, writing and directing.

The incubator project aims to unearth talents and voices from the Filipino community. More importantly, the project hopes to provide a much needed venue to articulate and dramatize stories from within our midst, waiting to be told and awakened.

The project includes once a week workshop sessions (for 10 weeks) on:

* Acting -- Mondays 7-9pm, June 19 to August 21
* Playwriting -- Wednesdays, 7-9pm, June 21 to August 23
* Directing for Stage -- Wednesdays, 7-9pm, June 21 to August 23

The workshops will take place at Insight Arts, 1545 W. Morse at Ashland Avenue. They will culminate on a two-weekend performance showcase on September 7-10 and 14-17.

There is no workshop fee but participants are required to fully commit to the workshop and performance dates. No previous experience required but a spirit of adventure is most welcome. There is a registration fee of $45 per participant to cover photocopying expenses for scripts.

Classes are fast filling up, and everyone is encouraged to register no later than June 15. For more information, call (312) 222-1551 or (312) 451-6974, or email circatheater@yahoo.com.
