Crossing East wins Peabody AwardMediaRites is proud to announce Crossing East as the winner of the George Foster Peabody Award. This eight-hour radio documentary series hosted by George Takei and Margaret Cho aired on 207 stations around the country and will be available to stations again this May for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The recognition by the Peabody culiminates three years of fundraising and production by MediaRites and Executive Producer Dmae Roberts. Not only did Crossing East reach millions of listeners but through six local outreach events, this series created community awareness of public radio as well. Special Thanks to more than 50 producers, scholars and artists who worked on this project especially Managing Editor Catherine Stifter and Lead Scholar Judy Yung and special special thanks to our MediaRites crew Associate Producer Sara Caswell Kolbet, Engineer Clark Salisbury and Outreach and Marketing Director Ping Khaw who gave us the wonderful subtitle "Our Stories, Our History, Our America." MediaRites also wants to thank the Corporation for Public Broadcdasting for their generous support to and Public Radio International for believing in our series and distributing it nationally and to CreativePR for their efforts to get our series picked up by stations.
