Toronto's Dora Awards announced

The Dora Maver Moore Awards Press Launch was held at the trendy Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts in downtown Toronto. The Doras celebrate extraordinary Toronto talent and, the number of Asian Canadian artists being celebrated was impressive.

fu-GEN's former Artistic Director Nina Lee Aquino was nominated for Outstanding Direction
for The Making of St. Jerome (eastBOUNDtheatre). As well, fu-GEN's Asian Canadian Community Developer Byron Abalos was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Principal Role for The Making of St. Jerome (eastBOUNDtheatre).

    Role in The Monster Under the Bed (Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young
    People)
  • Camellia Koo: Outstanding Original Set Design for Billy Bishop Goes

  • A-Kuan & Yi Chun: Outstanding Original Costume Design for Monkey
    King.
  • Romeo Candido: Outstanding Original Sound Design/Composition for TheMonster Under the Bed (Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People)
  • Jonathon Feng-Han, Alyssa Xiaoli Wang, Chen Jiao, and Wen Qiqi:
    Outstanding Original Choreography for Monkey King
  • Norman Lup-Man Yeung: Outstanding New Play or New Musical for Pu-Erh (k'Now Theatre)
  • Keira Loughran: Outstanding Direction for Pu-Erh (k'Now Theatre)
  • John Ng: Outstanding Performance by a Male in a Principal Role for
    Pu-Erh (k'Now Theatre)
  • Jackie Chau: 2 nominations in the Outstanding Original Set Design
    Category for Gas Girls (New Harlem Productions) and The Making of St. Jerome (eastBOUNDtheatre)

The Dora Awards are to be held on June 28 at the Bluma Appel Theatre.
