Fundamentals of Acting**
Taught by Sharon Omi
For beginning actors. Learn to recognize the strength and power of your own instincts through improvisational work - then use these instincts to explore character, text and action in scene work. March 24th - May 26th. Saturdays from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Fee - $350 * additional $25.00 registration fee for new students.
Intermediate Acting
Taught by Glen Chin
For intermediate actors. A disciple of Darryl Hickman and Tony Award winner Charles Nelson Reilly, Glen will guide his students through a series of exercises, observations and demonstrations, including monologue and scene work, to expand their imagination, creativity and process. March 13th - May 15th. Tuesday evenings from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Fee - $375 *additional $25.00 registration fee for new students.
Musical Theater
Taught by Stormy Sacks
For beginning singers. This class focuses on the basic principles of singing including breathing, placement of voice, and exercises to help ones voice production. Ensemble singing is also emphasized as well as solo singing (character vs technique, phrasing the lyric). March 12th - May 14th. Monday evenings from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Fee - $400 *additional $25.00 registration fee for new students.
Scene Study**
Taught by Alberto Isaac
Intermediate and advanced students only. This class delves into the process of scene work and is aimed at developing acting skills through intensive and organic character exploration and detailed scene and script analysis. March 12th - May 14th. Monday evenings from 7:30 - 10:30 pm. Fee - $400 *additional $25.00 registration fee for new students.
Comedy Class
Taught by Phil Nee.
If youíve ever dreamed about doing standup, hereís your chance! This workshop will help you get out of that seat and on stage. Through group exercises and writing assignments, you will learn to overcome your inhibitions, and develop your own unique comedy voice in a supportive environment. We will explore the styles of top comics as well as some of the hottest new ones. Upon completion of this workshop, you will have the opportunity to perform for your friends and family! March 15th - April 19th. Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm. Fee - $210 *additional $25.00 registration fee for new students
**Classes will be held at the East West Players warehouse. Remaining classes will be held at the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center.
