On Camera Commercial Acting and other Classes

ON-CAMERA COMMERCIAL CLASS with Aaron Takahashi
Tuesdays, March 1 - April 19 (8 weeks)

Many actors don't realize that there is an art to auditioning for commercials. This beginning basic commercial workshop will take you through the entire process of commercial acting. Through on-camera work, you will be exposed to the numerous types of commercial auditions. Learn and discover what you can do to set yourself apart from the crowd. From signing in at the audition, to booking and shooting the job, Aaron will give you the skills you need to feel confident when walking into an audition. Limited enrollment.

Aaron Takahashi is an instructor and core performing member of the Asian American improv group Cold Tofu. He also writes and performs sketch with ACME Comedy Theatre's Main Company in their flagship show, "ACME Saturday Night." Aaron last appeared on the big screen starring opposite Jim Carrey in the movie Yes Man. He currently has a recurring role on ABC's "Mr. Sunshine," which stars Matthew Perry. Aaron has been in over 40 commercials, including spots for Esurance, Expedia, and Snapple.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED VOICE & SPEECH
Thursdays, March 3 - April 21 (8 weeks)

Discover and experience the Fitzmaurice Voicework Approach; rework and invigorate your instrument! If you're wanting to jump start your acting career and brush up on the latest voice techniques to consistently give your on-camera and stage performances and auditions impact, join us for the Intermediate/Advanced Fitzmaurice Voice Class for working actors. Prior acting studies/training and voice work are required from any of the major voice methods. In this eight week session you will learn and develop a vocal warm-up and workout routine. You will also experience applying the voice work to your acting work! with classroom participation and in-class individual coaching. Inquire about on-going voice and Speech classes as well.

Veteran actor/director Leslie Ishii is a certified Katherine Fitzmaurice instructor. She has appeared in numerous commercials and tv shows including LOST, Desperate Housewives, FlashForward and Hawthorne. Most recently she directed CRIMES OF THE HEART at East West Players and is preparing to direct the upcoming Studio Lab Project for students who have studied with the EWP Actors Conservatory for a minimum of one year.

TEEN ACTING CLASS
Saturdays, February 5 - April 9, 2011 (10 wks.)

Begin your acting theatre adventure by studying with a working professional who has devoted his life to teaching acting in a nurturing and safe environment. Led by Jose Urbina, this 10 week course for ages 10-16 will focus on fundamental acting skills for teens and will include exercises needed to develop the actor's craft. Exploration will be through improvisation and theatre games which will improve and promote communication and imagination skills as well as team building and self-esteem.

Fee: $175 (ACTS $150)*

Jose Urbina is a drama teacher and director with more than fourteen years experience teaching and coaching students in the Los Angeles Unified School District, Bell Gardens (GATE) and Montebello Unified School District (GATE). A creative, proactive professional with demonstrated expertise in teaching acting, script writing, set design, directing, and also extensive experience coaching working actors to develop their cold reading skills, Jose Urbina is an invaluable member of the artistic community in preparing young students for a future in the performing arts.

Studio Lab Project
Wednesdays, March 2 - May 18, 2011 (12 wks.)

This class is open to students who have completed at least one year of study with the EWP Actors Conservatory or Studio Lab Project alumni. Instructor/director Leslie Ishii.
