East West announces playwrighting contest

Type of material: Full-length plays, plays for young audiences, musicals, solo pieces. No translations or adaptations, please. All plays must be unproduced (professionally) and unattached. We prefer plays with predominantly Asian Pacific casts and/or themes.

Remuneration: $2000 first place; $1000 second place; $500 third place. All winners will receive readings by EWP and will be considered for workshop and/or production. Submission procedure: Two bound copies of script (three hole punch and metal fasteners); separate title page, with name, address, phone number, email (if applicable); cover letter; SASP for confirmation of receipt; SASE for notification; $15.00 entry fee. We will not return scripts.
Submission period: February 1, 2000 to May 1, 2000
Notification: September 1, 2000.

Procedure: Title pages will be separated from the scripts and both will receive a tracking number. Blind entries will be screened by a committee of ten readers. Top scripts will be judged by a three member panel. We will announce the winners by press release on September 1; participants will be notified by mail at the same time.
