East West Players welcomes Trent Steelman as the new General Manager

East West Players, the nation's premier Asian Pacific American theatre, welcomes Trent Steelman as the new General Manager. In the position, Steelman oversees East West Players overall operations including finance, marketing, fundraising and administration.

A native of Colorado, Steelman was executive and artistic director of Essential Actions Theatre Company in Denver for eight years. He has worked in marketing departments at the Pasadena Symphony and the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and in operations at the Denver Art Museum. Steelman holds bachelor degrees in theatre, English, psychology and cultural arts and has studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts West. He is also a board member of Highways Performance Space in Santa Monica.

"Coming to East West Players brings my non-profit career full-circle blending my love of the theatre, management, minority issues and arts education at a time when East West Players is ready to take a gigantic leap onto the national radar," Steelman said.

Added Producing Artistic Director Tim Dang: "Trent's diverse and extensive background in arts administration will help further develop the incredible work of the East West Players board and staff as we prepare for the activities of our 40th Anniversary Season in 2005-06 celebrating the accomplishments of East West Players, and Asian American theatres and artists across the nation."
