My Tired Broke Ass Pontificating Slapstick Funk at East WestMY TIRED BROKE ASS PONTIFICATING SLAPSTICK FUNK hits the East West Players stage on March 15 East West Players, the nation's first and foremost Asian Pacific American theatre, sets the cast and designers for the world premiere of MY TIRED BROKE ASS PONTIFICATING SLAPSTICK FUNK, by Euijoon Kim, the third production of its 34th Anniversary Season Adventure to New Worlds. The East West Players David Henry Hwang Theater at the Union Center for the Arts is located at 120 North Judge John Aiso Street (formerly San Pedro Street) in Little Tokyo downtown Los Angeles. Directed by Deborah Nishimura, MY TIRED BROKE ASS PONTIFICATING SLAPSTICK FUNK runs for four weeks, opening on Wednesday, March 15 and closing on April 9, 2000. Low priced previews begin on Thursday, March 9. Plagued by old men with little dogs, mysterious fuzzy slippers, arrogant video store clerks, and angry Asian actors, Eric hasn't been right since he traded insults with Karen in the men's room of that club in Koreatown. How is this generAsian 1.5'er going to get out of his tired broke ass funk? Euijoon Kim, of the David Henry Hwang Writers Institute, shoots from the hip - confounding the genre and defying expectations in this scathing and scabrously funny anti-romantic comedy. This production also contains strong adult language. The cast for MY TIRED BROKE ASS PONTIFICATING SLAPSTICK FUNK includes (in alphabetical order) Hydo Chang, John Cho (American Pie, American Beauty), Art Chudabala, Leon Goertzen, Kerri Higuchi (GOLDEN CHILD, BIG HUNK O&Mac226; BURNIN&Mac226; LOVE), Alexis Mao, and Leilani Murakami. Set designer for MY TIRED BROKE ASS PONTIFICATING SLAPSTICK FUNK is Chris Tashima, costume design by Dori Quan, lighting design by José López, sound design by Paul James and props by Ken Takemoto. The production stage manager is Ricardo Figueroa. Performances for MY TIRED BROKE ASS PONTIFICATING SLAPSTICK FUNK are Thursday through Saturday evenings at 8pm and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2pm. There is no Saturday matinee performance on Saturday, March 18. Low priced previews are March 8, 9, and 10 at 8pm and March 11 at 2pm. General ticket prices are $30 for orchestra and $25 for balcony.
