Screenplay 101 : The Crash Course is designed to introduce both seasoned writers and first-time writers to the unique elements of screenwriting, including format, story & structure, character development, the dramatic arc, action/narration, thinking visually and in verbs, etc. The workshop features discussion, writing exercises, valuable handouts, tips, shortcuts. Whether you&Mac226;re just curious or really want to get started on a script, this workshop is for you. Workshop instructor Paula Cizmar has led writing workshops and intensives at the David Henry Hwang Institute at EWP for the last seven years. An award-winning playwright whose work has been produced off-Broadway, in London, and in regional theatres from coast to coast, she is also a screenwriter, story editor, and private script consultant. Her clients include HarperCollins Media, HBO, Lipscomb Entertainment, Estrin Management, and Time Warner. An adjunct assistant professor of writing at USC, she also teaches in the screenwriting division of UCLA&Mac226;s Writers Program, and is one of the first online instructors in the country. Her latest feature, Clipperton, has been optioned by LakeCity Films, an independent American-Australian venture.
