Casting Call: Fluid Motion, NYC, NY

Fluid Motion Theater & Film is casting the world premiere production of THE GREAT CONJURER, a new play adapted from the life and writings of Franz Kafka. Rehearsals begin 9/25/06; performances 10/20/06-11/4/06 at the Kirk @ Theatre Row, under AEA Basic Showcase code.

Character breakdown:
Ethnically diverse performers are STRONGLY encouraged to submit for any of the following roles:

  • N – The narrator of Kafka's work, the artist's voice, female
    (30s, wise, fluid, commanding, lithe, graceful yet playful)
  • G – The creative force, the bug
    (30s, male, physical, aggessive, centered, calm yet impatient)
  • M – The mother, the one who loves us a little too much
    (50 – 60s, subconsciously manipulative, loving, smothering, attentive )
  • F – The father, the intimidating one
    (50 – 60s, intentionally manipulative, judgemental, debilitating, larger than life)
  • S – The sister, the innocent one, plays the violin
    (20s, gentle, fearful, impressionable, willing)
  • Max – The best friend, the wheeler-dealer who is (almost) always on
    (30s, light, motivated, focused, charming, witty )
  • Felice – The love of a lifetime
    (20s, grounded, simple/naive, true, playful, perhaps a bit clumsy )
