Shopping for the holidays, Great Leap style

It has been a busy year for Great Leap, as we celebrated our 20th anniversary in July. We thank you for your support and friendship. As the holidays are quickly approaching, we would like to suggest some gift-giving ideas for this holiday season.

Great Leap has partnered with Bindu Records, an independent record label which produces socially and spiritually elevating music that reflects the diversity of our world - locally and globally. Bindu projects include:

Nobuko Miyamoto "TO ALL RELATIONS" CD - $16.
Nobuko takes us into the 'circle of oneness' as she weaves her dynamic songstories in "To All Relations." Inspired by the Native American salutation, 'mitakuye oyasin,' this album produced and arranged by Derek Nakamoto is a celebration of our oneness.

"A Grain of Sand: songs from the birth of Asian America" CD - $16.
When this seminal album was recorded in 1973, Chris Iijima, Nobuko and Charlie Chin simply wanted to document the songs which grew out of their involvement in the Asian American movement - music they shared with many communities. Due to overwhelming response and six "reunion" concerts around the country this past year, the CD has been re-issued in CD format. It's a collector's item!

Francis Awe "ORO IJINLE" CD - $16.
Master Talking Drummer Francis Awe, a Yoruban prince from Nigeria was presented by his grandmother to the village drummers at the age of two months. This long-awaited album takes us to places of deep spirit. It reflects Awe's mission to "make the Dundun a universal instrument and transmit the family aspect of African life to unify people of all races."

Kenny Endo "HIBIKI" CD - $16.
"Hibiki" which means "resonance" and "reverberation" contains 7 stunning original musical works recorded "Live in Concert" at Tokyo's Nippori Sunny Hall October 13 and 14, 1997. This CD is a must for all who love music with the soul of Japanese tradition in harmony with World Music.

Charlie Chin's "JATAKA TALES" Cassette - $5.
Storyteller extraordinnaire, Charlie Chin breathes life into these wonderful traditional Asian folktales for children. "One Dead Mouse" and "The Old Woman Who Knew Where to Find True Treasure" are stories that will have kids listening every night. Each story has a song and a positive teaching for kids to live by. Thanks, Uncle Charlie! For kids of all ages!
