Illinois seeks head of Theatre DepartmentHead, Department of Theatre The College of Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites nominations and applications for the position of Head of the Department of Theatre. The Head is the chief executive officer, producer, and the academic leader of the Department, in the UIUC College of Fine and Applied Arts. The Head reports to the Dean of the College, and oversees all operations of the Department. The Head is responsible for academic and artistic leadership, budgeting and administrative policy in collaboration with departmental faculty subject to College and University policies. Participation in development and fundraising efforts is expected. The Department comprises 21 full-time faculty, 1 part-time faculty, 126 undergraduates and 62 graduate students. The Department offers BFA programs in Acting; Performance Studies; and Design, Technology and Management; and MFA programs in Acting, Costume, Lighting and Scenic Design, Technology, and Management; as well as an MA and Ph.D. research program. The Department and its active production programs are housed in the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, a state-of-the-art, multi-theatre facility, on a comprehensive research campus enrolling approximately 42,000 students. Located in a medium-sized city in east central Illinois which has an affordable cost of living, the area is within two to three hours of three urban centers: Chicago, Indianapolis, and Qualifications include a terminal degree; substantial artistic or scholarly achievement, and a strong record of administrative, budgetary and development experience, an established record of teaching, research, publication and service sufficient to gain appointment as full professor. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to professional theatre training, scholarship, and affirmative action values. Depending on the candidate's particular area of specialization, the Head may also participate in the Department's teaching and production programs. In exceptional cases, significant professional credentials and experience may be acceptable in lieu of a terminal degree.
