KUMU KAHUA THEATRE AWARDED $50,000 ANNENBERG GRANT!
HONOLULU, HI: Kumu Kahua Theatre, the only theatre company in Hawai’i that focuses primarily on new plays by Hawaii’s playwrights, has just accepted a grant of $50,000 from the world renowned Annenberg Foundation.
“Kumu Kahua Theatre brought to the attention of the Annenberg Foundation by one of our board members, Marya Takamori-Prickett,” said Scott Rogers, managing director of the 37 year-old theatre company. “This is a huge grant for us. We just found out we weren’t going to be receiving our previously awarded grant-in-aid from the state which we had been counting on, so it came at the perfect time.”
Over the last 15 years, The Annenberg Foundation has awarded some 5200 grants totaling more than 2.8 Billion dollars.
Kumu Kahua productions are also being supported by the State Foundation on Culture & the Arts celebrating more than thirty years of culture & the arts in Hawai‘i; the Mayor’s Office of Culture & Arts, Mufi Hannemann, Mayor; The Hawai‘i Community Foundation; & foundations, businesses & patrons
