CONTEMPORARY LOCAL COMIC-DRAMA WINS PRIZE IN THE KUMU KAHUA THEATRE/UHM THEATRE DEPARTMENT CONTEST
Kumu Kahua Theatre and the University of Hawai‘i at Ma¯noa Theatre and Dance Department proudly announces the winners of their 2005 playwriting contest. The winner of the $600 Hawai’i Prize is Courtney Kunimura of Kane‘ohe for her comic-drama, The Perfect Heater, where an accidental dropping of a photo album starts a young woman on a journey of self discovery. Ken Narasaki of Venice, California is the winner of the $450 Pacific/Rim Prize for his play Innocent When You Dream. Nancy P. Moss of Honolulu is the winner of the $250 Resident Prize for her play More Brave Than Me.
Kumu Kahua productions are being supported by the State Foundation on Culture and the Arts celebrating more than thirty years of culture and the arts in Hawai‘i (with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts); the Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts, Mufi Hannemann, Mayor; and Foundations, Businesses and Patrons.
