Auditions Set For Kumu Kahua's Production Of Pele'

Rehearsals begin Monday, October 21.  Performances will be from January 10 through February 10, with the possibility of a week’s extension.  Director John Wat seeks an acting ensemble of 12-16 men and women to play 38 roles.  All actors in the ensemble will take on both character and narrative parts.  Actors of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to audition.  Experience, training and familiarity with hula, chant and Hawaiian language is not necessary, but will be helpful in the production.

Auditions will be held at The Academy of Film & Television, 1174 Waimanu Street, Suite A (behind Tahiti Imports) on Saturday, October 6 at 11am to 2pm, and Sunday, October 7 at 6pm to 9pm.  The entrance into the Academy is at the end of the walkway on the Ewa side of Tahiti Imports.  For a map, visit www.AmericanFilmActor.com and click on the “Map” link.

Actors may audition on either day, but should come early and stay as long as possible.  Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script, some improvisation, and simple movement work.  Actors should dress comfortably and be prepared to move.  Scripts are available for loan with a $10 cash deposit at the Kumu Kahua Theatre office weekdays between 11am-3pm--please call 536-4222 before coming to the theatre.

For further information, call director John Wat at 387-2970, or Kumu Kahua Theatre, 536-4222.
