Auditions For Kumu Kahua’s Production Of The Adaptation Of Steven Goldsberry’s M?ui The Demigod

Director Wil Kahele is seeking an ensemble of 10 actors. Adapted by Gary L. Balfantz with oli & hula created by Kahoa Malalis, this narrative theatre production of Steven Goldsberry's M?ui the Demigod: An Epic Novel of Mythical Hawai`i was first produced by Kumu Kahua in 1991, and toured the islands in 1992. The play incorporates hula, chant and storytelling in bringing the many myths of M?ui to the stage. Auditions will be held at Kumu Kahua Theatre 46 Merchant Street on Saturday, November 28, 1pm to 4pm, and Sunday, November 29, 6pm to 9pm. The entrance into the theatre faces a park on Merchant Street. Rehearsals begin as early as December. Performances will be from March 18 through April 18, with the possibility of a week’s extension. Auditioners are strongly encouraged to read the script before coming to audition. Scripts are available for loan with a $10 cash deposit at Kumu Kahua Theatre.
