Cary Wong's acclaimed play Mirrors Remem-bered published by AuthorHouse now available
Playwright Cary Wong's play, Mirrors Remembered, which had an acclaimed New York Stage and Film production in 1995, is now finally available in print by AuthorHouse. The play is available on the AuthorHouse website as well as various online booksellers including Amazon.com.
Mirrors Remembered is a rich kaleidoscope of life in New York City during one hot summer. The play follows the lives of six Chinese American women, strangers whose lives intersect and change in profound ways. From an aspiring photographer to two bags ladies rummaging through garbage cans; from a deli owner to an Olympic hopeful to an artist known around the world. These six women discover the character they possess when faced with extraordinary circumstances.
The world premiere production, produced by New York Stage and Film featured an all-star cast. JODI LONG played Montgomery, the artist who narrates her life. Jodi is best known for playing Margaret Cho's mother in TV's "All American Girl," and her one-woman play, Surfing DNA. TAMLYN TOMITA played Tess, the photographer. Tamlyn rose to fame as Waverly in the movie version of "The Joy Luck Club" and also starred in "The Day After Tomorrow" and TV's "JAG."
LIANNA PAI played Sandy, the Olympic hopeful. Lianna is best known for her stage performance in the touring production of "The Woman Warrior." She was also in the movies "Flirt" and "The Siege." DAVID CONRAD, who made his Equity stage debut with Mirrors, played David, Sandy's teammate. Soon after the play, David was cast as the romantic lead in the TV show, "Relativity" and is currently in "The Ghost Whisperer." MICHAEL POTTS played Michael, the police officer. Michael was most recently on Broadway in Grey Gardens and
won an Obie for his performance in The America Play.
The cast was rounded out with DAVID PITTU (Tony-nominated this year for LoveMusik), WAI CHING HO ("One Life to Live" and "Robot Stories"), TAKAYO FISCHER ("The Pursuit of Happyness" and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End), DAWN AKEMI SAITO ("Picture Bride" and Blood Cherries), LARRY GILLIARD JR. (HBO's "The Wire" and "Gangs of New York") and AKIRA TAKAYAMA ("Picture Bride" and "Snow Falling on Cedars").
