Mu Performing Arts Announces Its Ford Foundation Emerging Writers Of Color Project

Mu Performing Arts is proud to announce that it has been funded by the Ford Foundation's Emerging Writers of Color program to develop emerging Asian American playwrights. Mu is offering two commissions of $2,000 each to develop plays for possible production by Mu.

Playwrights interested in applying must submit scripts that have not previously been produced. To be eligible, playwrights must have less than three different plays produced by professional companies.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: OCT. 12, 2007

NOTICE TO WRITERS RECEIVING COMMISSIONS: NOV. 16, 2007

The commissions also include work with a dramaturge and director that will result in a reading of the play at Mu's New Eyes Festival of Staged Readings in the spring of 2008.

At that point, Mu will select one play to move to main stage production in its 2008/09 season and provide more development workshops for the selected play.
