Day 2 of the National Asian American Theatre Festival.

The Kimono Project by Patricia Jang

Corporate goliaths collide, while exploited workers scheme in this sendup of the ultrawealthy and corporatism. Generated mega laughs for this first presentation, thanks to a talented cast and some rather funny bits.

Assimilation/Sharif Don't Like That by Shishir Kurup

A one person show, with two pieces (and pardon the rather awful photography). Assimilation is a work with some history, following Kurup's observations and insights springing from his unique background that he traces to Africa, Asia and North America. Sharif Don't Like It, the companion piece, is a tour de force where Kurup does a one person, half hour monologue--without speaking a single word on stage. And what had me crying as I was laughing was that the most outrageous things that were mentioned in this show were the one most based on fact.
