NAPAWF looking for monologuesThe National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum (NAPAWF) nvites you to submit a monologue for our Spring Play: LOOK AGAIN: Did you know that a common stereotype of Asian women is that our vaginas are slanted?! Or that, Asian women are tighter and cleaner?! LOOK AGAIN BUDDY! Look Again, a play sponsored by the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum (NAPAWF), tells the stories of Asian women in America and our sisters around the world. Inspired by the Vagina Monologues, this play is about you, Asian women who are living beyond the stereotypes-whether about our Geisha like submissiveness or our Kama Sutra like sexuality-that permeate through the mainstream. We're inviting you to submit a 10-12 minute monologue on how your life experiences, in the U.S. or abroad, have informed your self concept as a woman. We're looking for pieces that provide a unique perspective on how issues like cultural heritage, immigration, gender preference and exotification (among many others) have shaped the women we are today. While we do expect to have some monologues on serous issues, like the high levels of domestic violence in our community, we're also looking for more lighthearted pieces. Go ahead; tell us about how your religious upbringing still makes you feel guilty every time you use a vibrator! Please send submissions to Samia Khan at mia_k107>AT<yahoo.com. Please let us know if you also want to perform your piece. We will email you with a response. Submission deadline is February 22nd. Thank you!
