Auditions for NWAAT's Rancho Grande

Her mother wants it. Her brother torments her with it. The Gods are doing
it. And all Mamie knows is that nice girls don't talk about it.

The Northwest Asian American Theatre is holding auditions for Rancho Grande by Eugenie Chan and directed by Jane Kaplan.

Rancho Grande is a dark comedy that weaves together Chinese mythology and Wild West iconography exploring the sexual awakening of a young Chinese American girl living in the desert with her family.

Chan's productions have included Emil, a Chinese play that was seen at East West Players in Los Angeles, Seattle Group Theatre, and the Pan Asian Repertory Theatre in New York.

Jane Kaplan, an MFA graduate of Yale, is a Seattle director and producer. Her productions include: Buero-Vallejo's In the Burning Darkness and Claire Cahfee's Why We Have a Body at Alice B. Kaplan has taught and directed theatre projects at the Seattle Children's Theatre, Cornish College of the Arts, the University of Washington, and Seattle Opera.
