DENISE LOUIE EDUCATION CENTER GETS IN THE MOOD WITH PFP(Seattle, WA) The Pork Filled Players (PFP) and Denise Louie Education Center (DLEC) are celebrating Chinese New Year together with “Red Envelope Weekend” on February 11th and 12th. Join PFP as they get sensual this winter with In the Mood for Lard and help DLEC reach their fundraising goal for their capital campaign project. “Denise Louie Education Center is proud to be the beneficiary of the Pork Filled Players special Red Envelope Weekend Chinese New Year performance February 11th and 12th,” notes DLEC Executive Director Janice Yee. “Donations will have a direct impact on furthering our mission to honor the diversity of the multi-cultural families we serve. We are pleased that this talented troupe is reaching out to support our children and families non-profit.” On February 11th and 12th, audience members just need to bring a red envelope with a donation of whatever size [preferably with lots of zeros in it] made out to Denise Louie Education Center. Participating audience members will get to see the show for $6, which is half off general admission. “We’re an Asian American theatre group and we think of ourselves as part of the community. That means we lend a hand to other Asian American groups when the opportunity arises. Groups like Denise Louie play a vital role in the International District and Seattle’s Asian American community, and we think it’s vital to support them,” says Executive Producer Roger Tang “While this event may not raise the entire amount needed, every bit counts.” DLEC begins construction of its new Beacon Hill Head Start site the same week as the performance. This facility, located at 3327 Beacon Ave S, will enable DLEC to serve 30% more children and families and improve service delivery. DLEC needs $90,000 more in donations to reach the capital campaign goal of $2.169 million. In the Mood for Lard plays at 8:00pm every Friday and Saturday from February 4th to the 26th. Tickets are $12 general and $9 students/groups. For more information about the show go to http://www.porkfilled.com/ or email pr(AT)porkfilled.com. The Pork Filled Players is Seattle’s closest approximation to an Asian American comedy group devoted to promoting the art of sketch comedy through thought-provoking original material accessible to all audiences. Using our own original madcap (though not necessarily zany) material, the Players aim pointed barbs at sacred cows, the bee’s knees, the cat’s meow and other non-porcine material. Using humor (hopefully funny) and song (hopefully on-key), PFP has their own take on modern life through their sketches. More information at http://www.porkfilled.com/. |
