(Seattle, WA) It's Ham-azing! It's Oink-tastic! It’s Porktacular!, a new sketch comedy show with vaudevillian flair from the Pork Filled Players, Seattle's Asian American sketch comedy institution, playing at the Ballard Underground (2220 Market Ave. NW, Seattle), July 13 to 28, Friday and Saturdays at 8 pm.

Porktacular! is a whiz-bang variety show of original new sketch comedy, with special guest stars Assaulted Fish (perennial favorite from Vancouver, BC), sketch comedy duo Charles ("Best Writing" and "Best Sketch Comedy" of the 2012 LA Comedy Festival) and Drop the Root Beer and Run (recently featured at Improlympia and the LA Improv Fest).

The Pork Filled Players are led by Head Hawg Roger Tang and lead writer Maggie Lee, and includes Matt de la Cruz, Narea Kang, May Nguyen and Kerstin Porter. PFP is not just the longest-running Asian American theatre group in Seattle, but also features a unique brand of cheeky geek wit, stage combat, and a rare majority of female comedy writers and performers.

Mild-mannered scientists, editors and office workers by day…by night, they are the Pork Filled Players! Since 1997, the Pork Filled Players has been redefining Asian American humor for audiences of every race, creed and gender. PFP is one of the most diverse sketch comedy groups in Seattle, featuring an awesome majority of female writers and performers, blending their unique brand of nerdish humor with maximum tongue-in-cheekiness and an Amazing Kung-Fu Grip(tm)!

Assaulted Fish is considered [by their mothers] to be Vancouver, British Columbia’s [second] funniest sketch comedy troupe. Since 2003, they have performed in [less than] five hundred shows, including appearances at SketchFest Vancouver, SketchFest Seattle [near Vancouver], the CanWest Comedy Festival [in Vancouver] and numerous Fringe Festivals [also in Vancouver]. Their work has been featured on CBC [radio] and their short film, Dandy Lions, has been shown in [at least two] film festivals. They are [usually] very friendly and would like very much to meet you [individually and in controlled circumstances].

The Seattle comedy duo of Charles, featuring Charlie Stockman and Chuck Armstrong, has been a staple of the sketch comedy in Seattle. Featuring intense cerebral humor (that borders on comedic arrogance), Charles has been cracking them up in sketch comedy festivals from New York to Los Angeles and has just returned from an exclusive engagement at the Los Angeles Comedy Central Stage.

Drop the Root Beer and Run (DTRBAR) is a young and fresh eyed troupe new to Seattle having recently emerged from the murky depths of Olympia as former members of The Evergreen State College’s comedy collective known as "Generation Friends." DTRBAR works in the mediums of both sketch and improv comedy with a style that's occasionally dark, but always whimsical: a full on, absurdist sensory overload (except for touch and smell).
