Pork Filled Players present: All Wallows Eve: Tales from the Sty

They're baaaaccckkk!

The Pork Filled Players (PFP), Seattle's newest Asian American comedy group, opens its 1998-99 season with All Wallows Eve: Tales from the Sty, an all-new show debuting October 9, 1998, at the Theatre Off Jackson (409 7th Ave. S.) in Seattle's International District.

Fresh off a triumphant spring run and smash appearances at the Filipino Fest and the 1998 conference of the National Association of Asian American Professionals, the Pork Filled Players settle in as resident artists at the Northwest Asian Americn Theatre (NWAAT) with a traditional, seasonal show taking a look at that October holiday--Halloween.

The late night locale for All Wallows Eve is an appropriate one, as the Players cast a bright light at the things that go bump in the night such as blind dates, bosses (literally) from hell and overeager elegies. Throw in a few stray exorcisms, a visit of bad sci-fi movie cliches and a song or two, and you have, once again, PFP's tilted and warped look at the world, suitable for all ages, races, sexual orientation and interests (with the possible exception of Chicago Cubs fans).

Joining the players for this show as an actor and co-director is Leilani Wollam, who's appeared on Northwest stages for the past several years. She joins the usual bands of nuts, which includes founders Wally Glenn, David Kobayashi and Roger Tang, director Cyndie Mastel-Rockicki and troup members Mona Leach, Daniel Arreola, Sharon Holmes, Richard Slonicker and Eric de los Santos.

Performances of All Wallows Eve are at 11 pm Friday and Saturday nights (following performances of Flipzoids by NWAAT) and at 7 pm on Sunday evenings.

Ticket prices for All Wallows Eve will be $6 general admission and $5 for students and seniors. People attending Flipzoids can also see All Wallows Eve the same night for a $2 discount. Reservations can be made by calling the Northwest Asian American Theatre at 206/340-1049.

The Pork Filled Players is Seattle's close approximation of an Asian American sketch comedy group. As artists in residence at NWAAT, they use their own original madcap (though not necessarily zany) material to aim pointed barbs at sacred cows, the bees knees, the cat's meow and other non-porcine material in the world. PFP has their own take on modern life, writing their own sketches, with an Asian American perspective, but still accessible to all ages and all races.

The Northwest Asian American Theatre is the premier Asian American theatre in the Northwest and is the second oldest on the continent.
